    How the Bimba Cylinder Works with This Winder


    The Bimba cylinder is part of the same system and works in tandem with the rewind/unwind stand.

    Its double-acting design can apply force in both extension and retraction strokes.

    Used to engage/disengage the electromagnetic brakes or clutches.

    When a new roll is loaded, the cylinder might push a lever or brake arm into position; when tension is restored, it retracts.

    It could also be used to lift or move a web-guiding arm or dancer roll, or shift the position of idler rollers.

    Because of its short stroke (1.00 in), it’s designed for a smaller, controlled actuation — not a full roll movement but a cam or lever action.

    In short: the Bimba cylinder functions as an actuator within the winder assembly, controlling a smaller mechanical movement (e.g. brake lever or taper arm) that supports the main web handling functions.
